Too Long, Clanky, Too Long

Check List For This Post:
-Pan's Labyrinth
-Harry Potter
-Hairspray
-Transformers
-Stardust

To keep this post within a readable length I will give a short review for Pan's Labyrinth - Perfect!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Was a great movie considering all the mess they had to leave out. It was glorious on so many levels but I'll just name my favorite: Umbridge. Imelda did so good with this character... I cant express how well she did. The character was flawless. She really played that 'old lady nice' with a hint of sadistic loathing better than I could have possibly imagined. "Do you know something... I really hate children."

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

At this point I have only read the book once but I didn't like it... the whole Deathly Hallows concept was ridiculous and pointless, she didn't explain half as much as she should have, I mean.. what about the veil? The door in the Department of Mysteries? And there was so much loose mythology that I wanted to scream. I had so much faith in JKR, 6 perfect books and then the final book in the series comes out and its rotten... sorry Jo but even a 'Harry Potter Encyclopedia' cant fix this.

Hairspray

I watched the 1989 version, loved it. Listened to the Broadway soundtrack and, for the most part, loved it. So I was very excited when the Hollywood Musical version surfaced. I bought the OST a week before the movie was set to come out and I still haven't stopped listening to it. And the movie itself was SO much fun. The wit in the lyrics and actions are so subtle yet so powerful... It was great. And John Travolta in drag always makes a movie better... except Battlefield Earth.

Transformers

I used to watch the old cartoon and when I saw the trailer I was a little sceptical but had high hopes (even though it said Michael Bay). It was glorious.. the blue ray of death in the opening attack scene made me melt. And never have there been hotter robots on camera. I want to do Bumblebee so hard! The way they fit the kids into the movie was clever too since it almost looked too military. I'll admit the story was kind of loosely written but played out well-ish. (Hey, even I will give up a solid story for Bumblebee penis)

Stardust

I'm totally looking forward to this movie. It's supposed to be 'The Princess Bride' of this generation and from what I see in the trailer it definitely has the Fantasy part down but I only laughed once during that 3 minutes and Princess Bride was definitly more funny... funnier than that. Regardless, I would see it JUST for the fantasy bit, because it looks great.

Okay, I wrote that fast and sloppy-like, so hey, if you don't like it... too late, you've already read it. HA HA!
